Gergő Kutsera - Driven by the people

Passionate about making work better for others.

Portrait of Gergő Kutsera

In the midst of a fast-paced life and an ever-evolving career, I have learnt that balance is everything. This is why I do my best to stay active and centered during my free time. The gym is my reset button, a space where I can recharge physically and mentally.

I love traveling and discovering new places when I get the chance, but I also deeply enjoy the simple joy of winding down at home with a good series or documentary, ideally something that makes me laugh or gets me hooked on a true crime mystery. But beyond the workouts and quiet evenings, what really drives me both personally and professionally is people.

My career journey

My career in People & Culture has taken me through several industries, organizations, and roles. But my passion for making work better for others has constantly remained. Helping a leader navigate a difficult change, supporting someone through a challenging time, or creating a culture where people feel heard, respected, and valued, are what matters to me.

I have led HR teams at Bio-Rad, Affidea, and British American Tobacco. Each role brought its own challenges, from transformations and scaling teams to setting up new structures from scratch. Working in both local and regional capacities has allowed me to love the unique blend of strategic vision and hands-on problem-solving that HR offers. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing that connection click, when people feel truly supported and empowered to thrive.

I joined Roche in September 2024, and was immediately struck by its culture. It is rare to find a place that balances stability with real innovation, where collaboration isn’t just a value on a wall but something you feel every day in the way people work together. I currently serve as the P&C Business Partner Lead for our RSS EMEA site in Budapest, while also partnering globally with the Demand to Pay (D2P) organization.

Every day here is different and that is what makes it exciting! Working in P&C means supporting both individuals and the business. One moment you are deep in a strategic discussion, and the next, you are celebrating a small, meaningful win with a colleague. I love those moments… the quiet breakthroughs, honest conversations, shared goals.

The scope and spirit of the RSS EMEA site is remarkable. It is a hub that supports global functions — from finance to procurement, P&C, and IT. The variety of perspectives, energy of cross-functional collaboration, and willingness to share knowledge freely are incredible. It is the international place to be.

Of course, some days are harder than others. Starting in a new organization, learning the ropes, and building connections takes time and intention. But when I focus on what really matters — the people I work with, the impact we are making, and the opportunities to grow together — it becomes easier to stay grounded. And when I need to reset? The gym is always there.

My RSS High-5

I would high-five the people who helped build the RSS EMEA site in the early days. I wasn’t here then, but I can clearly see the results of their hard work. Setting up a site like this takes courage, dedication, and a lot of behind-the-scenes effort. They made it possible for people like me to join something solid.
