Valmore Guevara – My passion for helping others
:quality(90)/)
Motivated by the impactful work we do.
I am proud to have been born and raised in Costa Rica, a small country where people dream big and live by the “pura vida” lifestyle. It is a phrase that means so much more than just "pure life"—it is a way of embracing gratitude, simplicity, and joy. My life is a reflection of that philosophy. I cherish the time I spend with my family, cuddling my dog Winnie the Pug, tending to my roses, and exploring the world through travel. Movement is also an essential part of who I am—whether it is practicing ballet or calisthenics, it is how I connect with my energy and creativity.
My career journey
Patients have always been the driving force behind my journey. If I were born again, I would choose to be a pharmacist all over again without hesitation. My passion for helping others was clear even as a child. I vividly remember running around with my friends, and whenever one of them got hurt, I would grab geranium leaves, believing I could "cure" their wounds. Looking back, I realize those leaves didn’t have any magical healing powers, but the care I put into my friends’ well-being was genuine and heartfelt—and that spirit continues to guide me to this day.
Since 2023, I have had the honor of working at Roche as a Regulatory Specialist in Diagnostics, supporting groundbreaking innovations in in-vitro cancer detection devices. My journey in regulatory intelligence has taken me across the evolving landscapes of medical device regulations, ISO standards, and jurisdictional requirements in countries and regions around the world.
Some of my most memorable moments have been shaped by teamwork. One standout experience was collaborating on the GSPR FastPass Global initiative in Germany. It was a collective effort to ensure compliance within our design and development processes. From reviewing ISO standards and embedding stakeholder feedback to providing insights on implementation activities, this work displayed how powerful collaboration can be.
Not every day is easy—life is not always rose-colored. However, even on the toughest days, I find motivation in knowing that the work we do has a real and positive impact on the community. That thought fuels my passion and keeps me focused on delivering value. I feel so blessed to wake up every day knowing I am doing something I truly love.
If there is one piece of advice I would offer, it is this: no matter how daunting a challenge or question may seem, the answers are already within you. Trust yourself. Celebrate your courage, your uniqueness, and the love you bring to the world. Wherever you are in your journey, remember that you belong. Embrace the “pura vida” mindset—find joy in the little things, and never stop believing in the difference you can make.
